Composing a Rhythm Patch

Music contains patches of rhythm.
Rhythm Patches are created by joining movement patterns.

Clap and say these movement syllables.

They can be drawn using lines.

Say, clap and play these syllables and matching line patterns.
Sing the line patterns using the syllable ‘Looooo’ made into long and short sounding syllables to fit with the movement patterns.

Exercise / Activity

  1. Create and clap a rhythm patch then draw it as a line pattern.
  2. Draw a line pattern and then clap it or play it on an instrument.
  3. Join two patterns to make the Rhythm Patch longer.
